QIO's PANiQ Systems - QIO Systems

Intelligent Wearable Personal Area Networks - PANiQ

QIO Systems, produces a wide and growing range of wearable personal area networking systems that enable the control of consumer electronics devices through interactive textile touchpads (ElekTex(tm) embedded into garments, bags and accessories.

Our ready-to-integrate system consists of two elements, the patented textile touchpad and PANiQ electronics. The touchpad and the PANiQ electronics controller are the basis for any wearable electronics integration. The PANiQ controller is the interface between the touchpad and a target consumer electronics device (e.g. iPod) that allows the touchpad to be used as a remote control for the target device. Integration is a simple 3 step process:

1. Choose a touchpad

100% fabric, durable, washable and flexible so it is ideal for integration into the existing fabric structures of garments. It can be overlaid with almost any type of material, including leather, nylon and canvas.

2. Integrate into garment

The touchpads can be integrated into high performance branded clothing (e.g. outdoor jackets, ski-wear) or backpacks.

Another important aspect of a wearable electronics system is the graphical interface to indicate the location and functions of the controls on the garment or backpack.

The graphics are applied to the outside (visible) surface so must be durable and fit in with the style of the fabric product.

3. Pick your electronics

QIO electronics translates presses on the touchpad to electrical signals. These signals are used to control the operation of a target consumer electronics device (e.g. iPod, mobile phone, etc.) through a wired (e.g. ‘flying lead’) or wireless (e.g. Bluetooth) connection.
